Dear Red Cliffs Audubon Members and Friends:
Following is our schedule of events for the month of June:
Wednesday, June 11: General Meeting, Tonaquint Nature Center 7:00 pm. Utah
Division of Wildlife Conservation Officer John Schijf has offered to talk to
us about "Wildlife and Conservation Laws in Utah." John should have some
good Conservation Officer stories, and is an exceptional local birder as
well. Hope that you can all come to this presentation.
Saturday, June 14th - Pine Park. There has been a Zoned-tailed Hawk in
this area for the last three years. Also the birding is good on the way
west of Enterprise. The geology is interesting in the area. We have some
geologists in the chapter and hopefully they will come along. This is a
primitive camping area, toilets only, no water. If anyone wants to camp the
Fri. night before that would be fun. For those that don't, meet at the St.
George BLM at 7:00 AM or in Enterprise at 8:00 AM. Bring lots of water
(it'll be hot - but not as hot as staying in St. George), some hiking shoes,
and of course your field guide and binoculars.
Other Events: Saturday, June 21: the Non-profit Zion Canyon Field Institute
presents PEREGRINE FALCONS IN ZION NATIONAL PARK - a workshop with
instructors David Stinton and Brent Hetzler. Pre-registration is required,
and there is a $50 fee. Meet at 8am at the Zion Human History Museum. Part
of the course will comver behavior, history, and management. Participants
will then be able observe one or more territories. Bring binoculars and
scopes (optional). Call the Field Institute at 435-772-3264 for more info
or to register.
