Shorebirds

The Hurricane sewage ponds are currently holding an amazing number of shorebirds.  The water level of the NW pond is way down, exposing large areas of "mud" which apparently is a real smorgasbord for these birds.  Sort through large numbers of Wilson's Phalaropes for a few Lesser Yellowlegs and a Solitary Sandpiper (the only one with a distinct eye ring) and an equally large number of Western Sandpipers for the Semi-palmated Sandpiper described by Rick Fridell.  There must be a Least Sandpiper or two among all those peeps but I didn't find one. Also, enjoy a few White-faced Ibises.

Morning light is best and be patient.
