Black Scoter

Kathy and I went to Mona Reservoir today (Sunday) around noon and saw the
Black Scoter. It was east of the dam and was trailing the northernmost
flock of Coots. We got beautiful looks through the scope. In the same
general area were two winter-plumaged Horned Grebes. We also saw a Barn
Owl in its roost box east of the Reservoir.
The Great Horned Owl (we only saw one) was still in the pines southeast
of the LDS church parking lot in Vernon.
Faust Reservoir was loaded with waterfowl (18 species), plus a Cormorant
and a Bald Eagle. A Virginia Rail was seen on the banks of the stream on
the south end of the reservoir.
