Dinosaur-Jensen CBC

Title: Message
The Dino-Jensen CBC was Saturday, Jan. 4 and was a great success.  The final tally was 49 species, which isn't a very big number compared to some circles but is a new record for us.  We had help from several out-of-town birders, including Bruce Robinson and hi wife, and they really made a difference.  We were able to cover the area much more thoroughly than we have for the past several years.  Thanks!

New species or forms for this CBC were Lapland longspur, yellow-shafted flicker, Eurasian collared-dove, western screech-owl, short-eared owl, Harris's sparrow, and American pipit.  The most abundant bird was European starling (sigh) but we also saw lots of Canada geese and sandhill cranes, a northern shrike, and 37 bald eagles.  Results will be on the Audubon web site as soon as I finish the unusual species documentation.
