Birders
Bob Bradley and I found the immature chestnut-sided warbler at Garr =
ranch this afternoon. It was in the trees in the grove next to the =
stream. This was about noon-1:00. Early this morning after close =
scrutiny, we found the short-billed dowitcher among three other =
long-billed. This is not a buffy bird. The breast and sides did not =
have alot of buff like Sibley shows. But the tertial feathers were =
distinct compared to the long-billed next to it. The tail was also very =
light and appeared much more white than the long-billed. Look for the =
tertial feathers and go early when the light is best. We did not hear =
it call today. It was seen at 9:00 and I saw it again at 3:30pm.
Other birds:
Stilt Sandpiper--5 at Glover
Pectoral Sandpiper--5 Glover
Baird's Sandpiper--2 Glover
Least Sandpiper--about 6-9 Glover

Garr ranch had hundreds of yellow-rumped warblers and alot of =
ruby-crowned kinglets. Also, there were 6 Hermit thrush and 1 =
swainson's thrush. One townsend's solitaire and a couple of townsend's =
warblers. Cassin's vireo, Red-eyed vireo, orange-crowned warbler, =
dark-eyed junco, and sora (heard)
