lesser sandhill crane

After checking in Sibley at home (p 157) it looks like the bird I =
mentioned in my previous email is a Lesser (Northern) Sandhill Crane.  =
The bird had a red crown (so it wasn't a juvenile) and was quite =
reddish.  Unfortunately I didn't have Sibley in the field so I didn't =
spend time checking size or bill length.  Is this a common bird?
