Heber & Mirror Lake

We went up to Mirror Lake today in search of the Williamson's Sapsucker
(again). On the way we stopped by the tavern north of Heber to check
the fields for Bobolinks. Just as we were ready to give up, there they
were--beautiful!. Life birds for both of us. Sharing the field with
the O'Links was a not-so-common Common Snipe. Another life bird.
At Provo River Falls we found the Williamson's Sapsuckers with a
chickadee renting the apartment above them and to the right. The male
and female sapsucker were both beautiful and we found it interesting how
they flew to the tree above the hole and backed down to the entrance.
We found Tuula's tree with the Three-toed Woodpeckers nesting in it
right by the trail going around Mirror Lake. Great directions. We also
visited the Three-toes on the highline trail. It was a great day with
three new life birds for us.
