Bountiful Gulls

Upon returning from Wisconsin last night, I checked my email, and about
died when I saw that an Iceland Gull had been seen. So, my dad and I
headed to the dump this afternoon. We saw the expected California,
Ring-billed and Herring Gulls. We saw a couple Thayer's Gull including
one extremely pale individual. We also saw the previously reported
Glaucous Gull. After about an hour I finally managed to find the
Iceland Gull and was able to take several photographs. Also, while I
was searching for the Iceland Gull I noticed an unusual gull flying
overhead. It finally landed and was clearly a dark-backed gull. I ran
for my camera and took 10-15 pictures before it finally flew away. When
I first observed the bird in the air I thought it was a WEGU. After a
closer look while the bird was standing I think the bird was Lesser
Black-backed Gull. The more and more pictures I look at on the internet
of LBBG's, the more confident I am that the bird was a third-winter
LBBG. I'll have the photos developed tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able
to make a positive ID of the gull.
Here are few websites that show LBBG's that resemble the bird we
observed today. Let me know what you think Larene about these pictures.
