I went down to River Lane Sunday night at 6:30. I stayed an hour searching the area around the pipe. I was unable to find the Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Yet it was very nice weather, no bugs bothering, not too hot and was rewarded with some fun birds none the less. I saw a Gray Catbird, and if memory serves me right this is the first one I have seen along River Lane. Also other birds were around like Caspian Terns, Bullocks Orioles, White Faced Ibis, the Eurasion Collared Doves, Eastern and Western Kingbirds, and several several other birds, but I had a small warbler sized bird with a very deep blue colored back fly over River Lane heading north from the trees along the river. My guess would be a Black-throated Blue Warbler or an Indigo Bunting, I know it isn't a Blue Grosbeak or a Lazuli Bunting, very familiar with the species, and was too small for a Grosbeak and too dark for Lazuli. So if your down looking for the Cuckoo, keep an eye out for a dark blue backed bird. I stayed for
an hour and never could relocate the bird.
