Gregg,
Lesser Goldfinches are year-rounders here, but I'm like you--I think they're
a special bird because we're located at the northern edge of their range.
I'm sure your thistle feeder helps to keep them coming around. All the
sunflowers in our brushy roadside edges help, too.
Eight Lesser Goldfinches also visited my feeder in Ogden this morning--the
most I've ever seen at once. Usually I see just one female or a mixed group
of 3-5 birds. Cold weather and snow has brought birds in in droves.
Kris

Lesser Goldfinches that have been hanging around my thistle seed feeder,
since I moved in about a year ago. Occording to the bird books we are far
north of the winter range for them. Do you think they are hanging around do
to feeder? The area has lots of tall trees also. I do enjoy watching them.
