I just spent a great 30 minutes walking around the
temple quarry at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon this evening
(6:00pm). In spite of quite a bit of foot and bicycle traffic there were
so many birds it was hard to choose which one to look at sometimes. This
is what I saw:
Orange-crowned Warbler (male and
female)
Black-throated Grey Warbler (great
looks, right down to the yellow "headlights")
Black-caped Chickadee
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Spotted Towhee
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon's)
Chipping Sparrow
Downy Woodpecker
American Robin
Magpie
House Finch
It's nice to have such great luck so close to
home.
