Working with scouts helps me to introduce some bird
watching, as one of their requirements is to identify ten wild animals, and
birds are the most prevalent wild animals around here. Tonight we took a
short walk at Confluence Park. We were immediately rewarded right in the
parking lot, in the large cottonwood next to the pavement, there is a Bullock's
Oriole nest, and mother was busy carrying food to the nest. Dad was
hanging around, but not at the nest.
Other species were:
White Throated Swift
Red Wing Blackbird
Western Kingbird
Gamble's Quail
Brown Headed Cowbird
Mockingbird
Mourning Dove
Flicker
Black Headed Grosbeak
Rock Wren
Nice list for a short walk, I thought.
