Antelope Island

Dropped by the island today and was excited to find the AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS (got some photos after years of trying), a NORTHERN SHRIKE, and
lots of waterfowl hiding from the hunters (SHOVELERS, COMMON GOLDENEYE,
SCAUP, etc.)

At the ranch I was practicing a pathetic Harris's Sparrow whistle by the
marsh near the summer LEO-hangout when a VIRGINIA RAIL came sauntering out
of the reeds. I was a little surprised -- especially since I was expecting
a female Harris's Sparrow. There was also a beautiful RED-TAILED HAWK
circling overhead near the picnic area.

Many more birds common to the area spotted. What a neat day for birding!

Carol
