Has anyone had success luring fruit-eating birds to your yard by
offering halved pomegranates, or any other fruit?
Cedar Waxwings and American Robins come to my yard for ornamental pears,
crabapples and juniper berries that are part of my landscaping. The
robins will eat serviceberries that I sprinkle on a bare patch of green
grass after a spring snow. But I haven't found any other specific
offering besides water that fruit eaters will take. I've also tried
halved oranges and cranberries to no avail.
In the last week, I've seen fruit eaters at wild locations eating
Russian Olives, wild grapes and Pyracantha berries. But what
birdfeeding supplies can I put out in my yard for them?
Thanks in advance for your advice,
Kris
P.S. The Russian Olive-eaters included the not-so-surprising American
Robins, Cedar Waxwings, European Starlings, House Finches and a
Yellow-rumped Warbler. The surprise olive-eaters were the Pine Siskins.
