Subject: Lytle Ranch Closed
Hi All,
To make a long story short: I received a phone call today from a U of
U professor looking to make alternative camping plans for this spring
because BYU told him that Lytle Ranch was going to be closed for one
year.
I made some follow up phone calls and spoke with Terry Simmons and Ken
Packer, the BYU coordinator for Lytle Ranch. He said that as of today,
Lytle Ranch will be closed for one year so they can make repairs to
Lytle. He claims that there was major infrastructure damage following
last weeks flooding.
He said that they will be locking the gate, posting signs at the
turn-off from Hwy 91, and that due to liability reasons they won't even
be allowing day-use (i.e. hikers and birders). He said the information
would also be posted on the Lytle Ranch website. Ken said that as
repairs get underway they will re-assess the one year closure and
reopen
sooner if possible.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Kristen
P.S. Kevin - maybe you can go to Welcome Wash as an alternative Beaver
Dam Slope field trip?
