sightings of Eurasian collared-doves have become pretty common in Utah,
including just down the road in Jensen, but I hadn't seen any in Vernal -
until today. About a dozen flew across the road in front of me this noon.
I stopped and went back to look for them, and found them roosting in a
tree not far off the road. I was able to count 11, and there might have
been one or two more in the dense branches. Too bad I didn't have a
camera along since among the ones I could see clearly I had every viewing
angle I could wish for. I thought it was worth passing along because of
the number seen at once. Seems like most reports so far had been of just
a bird or two.
