Hi all
Yesterday Jill, Kirsten (our granddaughter) and I
had a yellow-breasted Sapsucker off a trail along the Blacksmith Fork River on
the way to Hardware Ranch.
If one goes 5.4 miles toward hardware ranch east on
Higfhway 101 from the traffic light in Hyrum, you will find a small building
next to a bridge that crosses the river. There is a yellow gate, and past
that a trail that goes toward the east. At some point, vehicles have been
back there, as the grass is down from tires. The trail goes left around a
curve, and we saw the YBS just past this curve sitting low in the willow trees
not far from the river. He was definitely a YBS and not a Red-naped, as
this bird didn't have much red on his head, nor was his back as black. It
was more stripey than black.
Good birding,
Richard
