I headed out to Warm Springs to see if there had been any turnover in species
from when I was last out there 2 weeks ago. Despite water levels receding,
creating great shorebird habitat, the bird species are the same with nothing
new to report on.
Greater Yellowlegs 9
Lesser Yellowlegs 5
American Avocet 21
Black-necked Stilt 6
Killdeeer 3
Franklin's Gulls 100+ -
Forester's Tern 3
American Kestrel 1
Northern Pintail 1
Western Kingbird 1
Mourning Dove 104 + -
Next I headed out to look for Burrowing Owl at Cougar Park; either I am looking
in the wrong spot or I am just plain missing them. I have been twice, and
looked in the spot where I have been directed from 2 different people. Oye, so
frustratiing, but such is life with birds. HEre is waht I saw at the park:
Lark Sparrow 7
House Finch 1
Chipping Sparrow 1
Mourning Dove 23
Western Meadowlark 3
House Sparrow 1
California Gull 1
Good Birding.
