A "different" sounding hummingbird wing-trill drew
my eyes and ears over to my hummingbird feeders in Ogden this morning, and there
in all his rusty glory was a compact-looking male Rufous Hummingbird.
He flitted around two feeders that haven't had nearly enough attention or fresh
nectar in a few days, flashed that red gorget at me and he was
gone. I quickly mixed up a batch of Kris's home brew, washed and
refilled the feeders, and waited for his return. But alas, I didn't see
him again. That's my penalty for letting the feeders go too long.
Moral of the story: Fill 'em up!
