Hi Mathew and all,
The definition you got earlier sounds like the BBS (Breading Bird Survey).
The BBA (Breading Bird Atlas) the earlier e-mails were referring to is a
Utah Project to survey breeding populations and distribution in the state of
Utah.
More Information can be found at this site -

There is also a link to that site on the front page of the Utahbirds web
site - www.utahbirds.org
There have also been article by Robin (The guy putting the BBA together) in
a few of the recent UCB (Utah County Birders) Newsletters.
You can find the UCB Newsletter arcives at -

One person sent an answer, to me, so I'm forwarding it on to you all, FYI.
"It stands for Breeding Bird Atlas. It is the process by which a survey of
nationwide breeding birds takes place each year between May and early June.
Birders volunteer to cover a specific route, stopping at .25 mile intervals
(I think) to listen for singing birds for two minutes or so. All data is
compiled to deliver a snapshot of breeding bird fluctuations from year to
year."
Since he didn't post it I'll keep him anonymous. If you want to add to, or
correct his definition, please feel free to post it to BirdTalk. Frankly,
I'd never heard ot it before. Ya learn something new everyday or so.
Matthew.
