I must correct an item of errata from my recent "A
Little Alpenglow" posting. The largest Red Crossbill bill is a Type
6, not a 9 as I mentioned in my post. I must have typed that number while
upside-down...yeah, that's it; I was upside-down. Sibley gives a thorough
explanation on the diversity of crossbill sizes in The Sibley Guide to
Birds, page 531.
