Subject: Williamson's Sapsucker, anyone?

Message: Has anyone seen a Willaiamson's Sapsucker in the past two weeks? I have been to Mirror Lake (several times), Tony Grove, Boulder mountain road, and Brighton to no avail. If you know another place where they've been seen, would you help me out with a post of when and where? Thanks a bunch.

Yesterday at Trial Lake/Washington Lake area Calleen cox and I saw Pine Grosbeak, and Orange-crowned Warbler. There were not too many birds around and no Williamson's of course.

Wednesday Pomera and I birded Smith-Morehouse Reservoir road and found a nice pocket of activity--siskins, chickadees, kinglets, MacGillivrays and Yellow-rumped Warblers--and lots of young that test your skills!

Tuesday Pomera and I birded BRMBR; the Solitary Sandpiper was there still, Black terns, a kazillion Wilson's Phalaropes, Baird's Sandpiper, lots of Snowy Egrets and Black-crowned Night Herons, audibles on Soras, a Redhead coming back into color. It's nice to see so many birds but frustrating, too, cause so many are so far out.

Monday Kent Lewis and I walked (he walked, I struggled from the lake to the pass area) about three-fourths of the way to the Twin Lakes pass from the Lake Solitude side at Brighton looking for the Williamson's Sapsucker. We heard a woodpecker drumming from the area near the pass, but never heard it more than once. Did see lots of Clark's Nutcracers and some Red Crossbills, along with Warbling Vireos, Hairy Woodpecker, nuthatces, chickadees, kinglets, Orange-crowned and Yellow-rumped Warblers.

Good birding y'all,
Julie
