Bob Huntington and Bob MacDougall visited George Washington park this
morning and located two Northern Pygmy-Owls on four separate occasions.
A noisy flock of Bushtits crossed over the groomed cross-country trail
near the seventeenth hole. Incredibly beautiful weather in the
mountains.
Walking between 48th and 53rd on the Jordan River produced a Wilson's
Snipe about 30 feet south of the park bench along the trail. We had
spotted it by the river two hundred feet north of where it landed
eventually. It gave us the best looks at a snipe that either one of us
has ever enjoyed. After about a minute of standing, the snipe snuggled
down to the dirt as if it were on a nest and let us get within twenty
feet before it flushed.
