Well, it ain't a Curlew Sandpiper, a Green Heron, or a Tennessee
Warbler, but I saw a juvenile HORNED GREBE in of all places, the manmade
concrete-lined pond northwest of the Nucor Steel plant in north-central
Box Elder County today. At least the grebe is still classified as rare!
I also saw a family group of Ferruginous Hawks on the west side of the
Malad River Valley between Nucor and the Washakie Indian Reservation.
Two of the hawks were juveniles, one was a lovely dark morph adult, and
the last one was a too-far Ferruginous.
