Hi,
Trust Kris Purdy!
Bob Huntington and I had planned on going to Willard Bay on Sunday. It was a
slow day for birds at River Lane, but a good day to socialize. We then went
around the Provo Airport Dike and did not see anything out of the usual except
maybe the small flock of dowitchers. Slow down south, then head to Willard Bay.
We birded the area that Kris saw the warbler in with no results. There were
warblers around the west side of the restrooms just north of where Kris
reported the bird, but not the Tennessee. We walked the boardwalk and saw catbirds,
Macgillivrays, Yellow Warblers, and flycatchers. Back to the restroom area that
had all the warblers. We played a call and after maybe fifteen minutes it
showed up. We saw the field marks described by Kris, plus the final deciding mark
of a distinct white leading edge on the wings at the "elbow" area. Got him.
