I stopped briefly at Kaysville Ponds late this
afternoon and saw three Cinnamon Teal--two drakes and one hen. Although
the Cinnamon Teal is a common summer resident, the 2004 Utah checklist
classifies this species as a rare winter bird. In addition to the teal,
all other species present were "regulars"--lots of Mallards, Common Goldeneyes,
a female Ring-necked Duck, American Wigeon, Lesser Scaup, and Ring-billed
Gulls. No Hooded Mergansers; boo-hoo.
