Merrill Webb and I saw it on Thursday morning and
it was flying around quite normally. It was first in the middle of the
res., then flew to the east side and landed on a rock when we arrived. So,
it seemed somewhat healthy. We did not see it feed at all. I would
be interested to know if anyone else has seen it feed.

FYI. The Brown Pelican at
Newcastle Res. was picked up along I-15 at the north Beaver (Beaver Co.)
interchange on April 19 by UDWR personnel. It was first reported as being
released at Quail Res. But then reported as being released at Newcastle Res.
As I understand it the bird was somewhat emaciated when picked up.
Apparently it is doing okay at Newcastle.
