A horned grebe was observed at 7:30 a.m. yesterday at Lee Kay ponds. It
was swimming in the pond immediately south of the portion of the dump in
which yard waste and mulching are taking place. A few yards away from the
swimming grebe was a goose that I at first thought was a greater
white-fronted goose. After a great deal of study and much wishful
thinking, I had to change my opinion and admit that it was not a G.W.F.
goose, but rather a greylag (sp?) goose instead. Curses! I did not see any
egrets at the ponds yesterday morning.
