The Refuge is 99% frozen over. Only a few pockets of open water where the
Refuge canals run into the Great Salt Lake. A few hardy birds persist.
Birds sighted from the tour loop include rough-legged hawk, common
goldeneye, common merganser, pied-billed grebe, coot, great blue heron,
prairie falcon, and short-eared owl.
