Yesterday Reed Stone and I met at Provo at went up
the Mirror Lake Highway, as far as Butterfly Lake. At Bald Mountain we had
the pleasure of meeting a Leo Weigand, who was visiting from Maryland. His
companion was from New Mexico. Somehow I recognized his name. It
seems he has a list of over 750 on the ABA North American List. He was
looking for a Canada Jay. Together we saw a Clark's Nutcracker at
Butterfly Lake.
Birds seen by Reed and I included in the
following:
Lincoln Sparrow
Yellow Warbler (feeding young)
Northern Flicker
Clark's Nutcracker
Pine Grosbeak (Mirror Lake)
Chipping Sparrow
Three-toed Woodpecker (both m. & f. at nest @
Trial Lake)
Due a a stomach upset on my part we had to cut the
trip short. However, it was a beautiful day to be in the
Uintahs.
No Gray Jay or Williamson's Sapsucker.
