Mild temperatures resulting in open water conditions on the Refuge provide
for many over-wintering waterbirds.  Other birds noted: American Goldfinch,
Western Meadowlark, Song Sparrow, and Red-winged Blackbird.  Many of these
birds can be viewed from Forest St. looking southward with a spotting
scope.
