Three-toed Woodpeckers



This morning, Sunday 7/28, we observed 2 Three-toed Woodpeckers at
Brighton.  They were seen along the trail that connects the summer cabin
area to the Lake Solitude trail.  FYI, also seen in this area were:
Red-tailed Hawk
Northern Goshawk (being harrassed by numerous birds)
Broad-tailed Hummingbirds
Rufous Hummingbirds (dozens competing for the feeders at the cabins)
Calliope Hummingbird (feeding two young in nest)
Red-naped Sapsuckers (3)
Hairy Woodpeckers (6)
Red-shafted Flicker
Cordilleran Flycatchers (nest with nestlings in a cabin's eaves)
Western Wood-Pewees (innumerable)
Olive-sided Flycatcher
Violet-green Swallows
Cliff Swallows
Tree Swallows (feeding three young in tree hole)
Steller's Jays
Clark's Nutcrackers
Common Raven
Mountain Chickadees
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Hermit Thrush
American Robin
Warbling Vireo
"Audubon's" Warblers
Orange-crowned Warblers
Western Tanager
Black-headed Grosbeaks
Green-tailed Towhee
Chipping Sparrows
White-crowned Sparrows
Fox Sparrow
Lincoln Sparrows
Song Sparrow
"Gray-headed" Juncos
Pine Grosbeaks
Cassin's Finch
Red Crossbills
Pine Siskins
American Goldfinch
