I flushed at least 3 ruffed grouse along the Maybird Lakes trail last
evening around 7:00 p.m. It is not an easy hike, but if anyone is
interested, here are the directions.
Drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon in SLC to the White Pine trailhead.
Walk one mile up to where the Red Pine and White Pine trails split. Take
the Red Pine trail up another 1-1/2 miles to where Maybird Lakes trail
splits off to the right, crossing a bridge. Go up about another 1/2 mile.
Even if you don't see the bird, you'll enjoy a beautiful alpine hike with
lots of wildflowers this time of year.
