My family and I spent the weekend (4/26-4/28) camping in the vicinity of
Natural Bridges National Monument (San Juan County). At our campsite - a mix
of ponderosa pine, pinyon/juniper, and some cottonwood, we watched a male
hooded warbler forage along the small canyon wash. We got great looks at the
black hood, white sides of the tail (best seen from below), and the constant
tail-flipping nature as it foraged. Other visitors included: black-throated
gray warbler, yellow-rumped warbler, hermit's thrush, red-naped sapsucker,
hairy woodpecker, ruby-crowned kinglets, solitary vireo, and a nighttime
flammulated owl.
