April 6-- went to Alta to see Rosy Finches and arrived just in
time to walk up to SLBirders group, look in scope and get Black Rosy Finch; also got a Gray and a Fox Sparrow. Donna Thorum gave me directions to the Henefer lek so I could go up Sunday. Thanks Donna, they were great!

April 7--arrived at Henefer lek at 7 AM Daylight time and saw 4 male Sage Grouse on east side of road and some hens and 14 males and some hens on the west side of the road! Males were strutting their stuff, mock fighting, and of course, "booming"--what a wonderful way to start the day!! I watched for 30 minutes, and then went over to East Canyon State Park--Common Loons (at the marina)and an Osprey in a tree behind the residential area. Green-winged teal and Common Mergansers in various areas of reservoir. When I came back by the lek at 0850 there were still 5 male grouse on the west side and 1 male on the east side on the road winding up the hill behind the corral.

Saw 2 Sandhill Cranes east of Henefer, another Ospry near Rockport Reservoir, Tree Swallows near Oakley; Sandhill Cranes and a Dipper at the BOR area in Heber.

A great day!!

Good birding to all--
Julie
