Glaucous Gull, etc.

This Sunday afternoon (1/27) we visited Farmington Bay WMA. There were
several American Tree Sparrows in the scrub and trees near the
restroom/parking lot. At the south end of the west dike road, there were
at least 30 Bald Eagles along the sides of the water channel south of the
gate, with another 20-25 on the pond ice just east. A gathering of
several hundred gulls were flying and sitting in this same area, along
with about 10 Great Blue Herons. Quite a site! Amongst the more common
gulls were numerous Herring and one adult Glaucous Gull. We also saw a
red fox in this area.
At the Causeway, we saw 2 red foxes near the entrance hut, and a male
Surf Scoter on the south side near mile marker 2. The resident Prairie
Falcon was hunting along the Causeway.
In Kaysville, near the south end of Angel Street, we saw a Merlin
snacking on a mouse (?).

Saturday (1/26) there were a couple hundred Pine Siskins coming to
feeders at a residence in Summit Park. 30 Evening Grosbeaks were also in
the area.
On the roof of the Lehi Roller Mill were 24 roosting Mourning Doves.
