My granddaughter, Kate, birded today and was not impressed since there
are no birds. I finished off the day by taking her to the Bountiful dump.
She thought it was a great place because "there were birds, it was fun to
watch the gulls fight, and interesting to see what people throw out!" I
liked it because there was a first winter Glaucous-winged Gull among all the
Herrings. It was on the hill to the west of the first dumping area and then
flew over the active dump in front of us and off north. I never could
relocate it on the hills to the north and east. We saw it a little before
4PM.
                                                  Dana
