Several people have encouraged me to keep postings on the SunRiver Pond
as there are various birds there. Perhaps you saw Marilyn Davis's
write-up in last Friday's Spectrum regarding the American White Pelicans
and Great Egret?
Today at 1:15PM there were no Egrets nor Herons, but there was one Snow
Goose and one Ross's Goose standing side by side. Great comparison.
Earlier in the month there were five Ross's on the pond, but, recently
there have not been any. The two Pelicans are still there along with
over 100 American Wigeon.
I found where "my" Wood Duck goes when scared off the stream, he was
with the Wigeon; as were Ring-necked Ducks, Coots, Pied-billed Grebes,
Ring-billed Gulls and what I make to be about 4 Red-necked Grebes.
Anybody want to help me out here, please, be my guest. I'm comparing to
Sibley (p26) and the Adult nonbreeding stage. A real stocky, flat head.
But......
I will keep you posted.
Bill
