My wife and I travelled up Logan Canyon on Tuesday, 9/5, and hiked the
trail to the lake (Alpine Lake? White Lake?) at the end of the Tony Grove
road. About half a mile up, we found two male Williamson's sapsuckers
(Life bird!!), and saw several more birds, including one juvenile, over the
next mile or so. I can't say exactly how many individual birds we saw, but
there must have been at least four: two males, a juvenile, and an adule
female. We also saw a brilliantly colored hairy woodpecker, and a trio of
blue grouse that walked along the trail quite oblivious of us. A great day!
