BOX ELDER COUNTY
A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was seen at Willard Bay SP on Sunday, 08/19 (KL).
It was in the campground at the north end of the park, just east of
campsite #53.
DAVIS COUNTY
A RED-EYED VIREO continues to be seen at the Fielding-Garr Ranch at
Antelope Island SP. It was first seen on Thursday, 08/16 (KL), and most
recently reported from Tuesday, 08/28 (DG). The bird has been seen most
often in the trees to the east of the ranch house.
Other birds seen Friday, 08/17 and Sunday, 08/19 at the Fielding-Garr
Ranch at Antelope Island include CASSIN'S VIREO, NASHVILLE WARBLER, and
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER (KL,LW).
A juvenile STILT SANDPIPER was seen on the west edge of the pond at the
west end of Glover Lane, near FBWMA, on Sunday, 08/19 (J&KB).
Two BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS were seen along the shore of the Great Salt
Lake south of the entrance to the AIC on Monday, 08/23 (PM).
GRAND COUNTY
A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was reported from the Matheson Wetlands Preserve
in Moab on Friday, 08/24 (DF).
JUAB COUNTY
An adult RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was seen at Callao, west of Fish Springs,
on Tuesday and Wednesday, 08/21 and 08/22 (RF). The bird was in the
fields near the Callao schoolhouse.
UTAH COUNTY
An immature CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was among an impressive number of
"good" birds which have been seen along River Lane, near the mouth of
the Spanish Fork River, in the past week. The Chestnut-sided was first
seen on Sunday, 08/26 (J&KB) and has been seen every day since, with the
most recent sighting on Tuesday, 08/28 (DS). To get to River Lane, take
exit 263 (Springville) from I-15, and head west for about 4.5 miles,
turning north onto River Lane just before the road crosses the Spanish
Fork River. Most of the birds reported from this area have been in an
area where the road parallels the river just past the end of the fields.
Some flagging, placed by birders, marks places along the road where good
birds have been seen.
Other good birds reported along River Lane include a BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLER, which started the flurry of sightings when it was discovered on
Thursday, 08/23 (DS). It has been seen every day since then up through
08/28. Since 08/23, River Lane has produced sightings of CASSIN'S VIREO,
PURPLE MARTIN, NASHVILLE WARBLER, TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART
and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK (v.o.).
A NASHVILLE WARBLER was also seen i the Payson Lake Campground along the
Mount Nebo Loop Road on Sunday, 08/19 (CD,ND,PF).
At the Lindon Marina on Utah Lake, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER were seen on Friday, 08/24 (EH).
