Fellow birders:
The following is an updated schedule of when the surveyors should be =
taking comments at the Jordan River State Park. This is where the =
shorebird and nesting area for Snowy Plovers is being destroyed by =
four-wheelers. Please take the time to go and voice your opinions in =
favor of returning this important piece of habitat back to its natural =
state. A more suitable place can certainly be found for the =
four-wheelers to have their fun and enjoyment other than over shorebird =
nesting sites. Thanks in advance to those of you who take the time to =
get involved in habitat preservation. =20

Jordan River State Park Use Survey*
August Schedule--Surveyors should be on the walking trails at this park =
as follows:
1:30 - 8:00 pm on Fri. 8/10;Sat. 8/18;=20
7:00 am - 1:30 pm on Mon. 8/13; Thurs 8/16; Mon. 8/20; Tues 8/21; Thurs =
8/30
This schedule is subject to changes. So far, the dates with Trail times, =
have been moved to the Modelport, inside the park. To get inside the =
park, take the 2200 North exit off of I-215 northbound. Turn right after =
exiting the freeway, then take the first left after coming down off the =
ramp. The public won't be charged the admission fee to participate in =
the survey. The survey ends on the weekend of Labor Day. Please share =
this information with whomever you think is interested in this issue. =
This schedule is supposed to be confidential to ensure randomness of the =
survey, but so far, birders have been biased against, hence getting the =
schedule seems appropriate. I would not ask folks questions about the =
schedule, just try to get there and participate. If we continue to find =
that no surveyors are present at the scheduled times/places, please let =
me know.=20
=20
Thanks for your support in this effort.

*the survey results will be used to determine best development for the =
park--a natural area, model airplane couse, OHV training area. It is =
used for all three now, but is situated on the river in what could =
become wonderful riparian habitat. GSLA supports habitat development and =
helping OHV to find another close by suitable area for its training =
site.
