Rock Cliff Nature Center

Pomera Fronce and I went to the Rock Cliff Nature Center by Jordanelle
Reservoir on Sunday and saw almost as many nighthawks as we saw
mosquitos. We actually saw one nighthawk land in a tree and completely
disappear. We shortly discovered that what we thought was a bump on a
limb was the nighthawk. Then we looked for them in other trees--the
"Where's Waldo" of the bird world--and spotted many resting on limbs
high in the trees.
Also seen were two Cassin's finch, northern harriers, flycatchers, a
flycatcher nest and a yellow warbler nest, cedar waxwings, wrens, an
osprey, orioles, a weird bird walking from the camping area with a
mattress on his back, and other "normal" birds. We saw about 23
species.
