painted redstart

Sunday afternoon (22 April, 4pm), I watched an adult Painted Redstart for about 15 min as it foraged with a mixed-species flock (of chickadees, kinglets, and other warblers) in Zion Canyon, Zion NP. Specifically, the bird was in the riparian woodland about 1/4 mile downstream from the Temple of Sinawava shuttle stop (all motorized traffic is via shuttle in Zion Canyon).
Interestingly, this record is consistent with the timing of the nine previous records in Zion NP, according to Wauer's (1997) revised Birds of Zion NP. Although some of those nine records appear to represent resightings of the same birds, records range from 20 April to 2 May. Also, some of those birds appear to have hung around for 5-9 days, suggesting that this bird could also.
