what was it?

This morning (10:30) I saw a large wading bird that was standing by itself
in a pond. I was on a 50mph one way street and couldn't stop or turn around.
I got not much more than a glance at it. It appeared to be all dark like the
adult Little Blue Heron. I don't remember head plumes but I suppose I could
have missed them.
The location is a pond-like body of water that is just North of 20th Street
in Ogden and West of the Wall Ave. intersection. 20th turns into a one way
going West at that intersection and a large amount the traffic is people
heading to the I-15 on ramp. There might be room to pull over but I couldn't
anyway due to vehicles directly behind me.

What are the likely possibilities?
