I just wanted to thank the many folks who replied to my request for
binocular advise. I certainly found out which models are preferred and what
features to concentrate on. I had originally planned to buy new but one
person who wrote with advice also mentioned that he had a 4 year old pair of
Swift Ultralites he'd sell and I went ahead and bought them. They are in
pretty close to mint shape and the price seemed really fair to me. I feel
they'll be great to get started with. I'll be buying another pair of another
brand
within the next couple of years but the Swifts won't be retired even then.
