The Salt Lake Audubon field trip went to Farmington Bay and the Kaysville
ponds on Wed.
Despite a bitter cold wind one could still see intimations of spring. The
water is open now and increasing numbers of ducks are moving in. Fourteen
duck species were observed including 9 Hooded Mergansers on the north and
south Kaysville ponds. Tundra Swans are still at the refuge and at least one
Short-eared Owl is still hunting along the dike (which has now probably been
closed to vehicle traffic -- as of March 1). Hugh Gillilan
