Breaking News

A little "breaking" news from the "Utah Birds Records Department:"

Rob Fergus's long-standing record for the number of species seen in
Utah in the month of January, 132, has been shattered (as he
helplessly looks on from Texas). Merrill Webb went north to Farmington
Bay and Dennis Shirley went south to Washington County on the last day
of January and both ended up with 139 species. A formidable record.

Craig Kneedy's Utah Life List record of 361 species is also in
jeopardy. Terry Sadler has reported 361 to tie the record and my
sources say Merrill Webb and Mark Stackhouse are both right in there
too. When we find out about the Iceland Gull and get some official
numbers, we'll know a little better how that comes out -- the old
record won't last long.
