Eagles Galore

The Bald Eagle show continues at Farmington Bay. Salt Lake Audubon did a
field trip out there today and Elaine Wonsavage's last count was about 270!
Spectacular! Eagles were everywhere, in the usual dead trees (there alone
counting about 100), on snags, on the ice and flying overhead. One thinks of
those famous pictures out of Alaska with Eagles feeding on the salmon. The
big draw here is dead carp that have apparently been killed in an eradication
effort. Gulls also abound including Thayers (considerable deliberation here)
and at least one Glaucous Gull. One Short-eared Owl was seen along the dike
running west from the gate at the southern portion of the north/south dike.
