Sightings

On Saturday, January 13, Kathy and I observed the Red-shouldered Hawk at
the Powell Slough, in its favored location in the trees behind the water
reclamation plant. Along the Provo Airport dike road, a Great Horned Owl
was seen about halfway along the west dike, and a noisy Winter Wren was
in the southwest corner, frequenting both sides of the dike.
At the Draper Wetlands Park, 750 E. and 11800 S., we saw Wood Ducks, a
male Cooper's Hawk and a male Peregrine Falcon.
This morning, Sunday January 14, at Farmington Bay WMA, we also saw the
American Bittern, Long-tailed Duck and American Tree Sparrows, and at
least 200 Tundra Swans. On Antelope Island, walking the trail at
Ladyfinger Point and pishing produced three Wrens: Rock, Bewick's and
Canyon. At Fielding Garr Ranch (Antelope Island) we found a Virginia
Rail and a Prairie Falcon. Another Prairie Falcon was seen along the
road to the ranch.

Good birding! - Joel
