Directions:  Go west from Huntington on SR 31.  The road reaches Huntington Reservoir after about 19 miles and connects to the Fairview Canyon road a few miles after that.

Description:  The Huntington Canyon road is a wide paved road in great condition which passes many nice turnoffs, campgrounds, and lakes before it connects with Fairview Canyon road at the summit.

Birding:  About 5 1/2 miles from Huntington there's a large power plant. If you drive about 2.6 miles further you will reach Bear Canyon Rd..  Opposite Bear Canyon Rd. is a small inconspicuous dirt road that leads to a marshy riparian area which lies along the main road and provides excellent bird habitat.  Further up the canyon are other flat areas by the stream which are worth checking out.  At the top of the canyon are three reservoirs within about a four-mile stretch, providing good mountain-lake habitat.  (see pictures below).
